Evening Cup Introspection: Lemon Tea
December 19th/ 9:55pm/ Atlanta, GA.
Today was an OFF day. I woke up feeling exhausted with a little bit of brain fog but had an appointment at The Training Room ATL so I rolled myself out of bed and into my sneakers.
I was determined to have a productive day! I forced some happy energy and walked into the building to get started.
Not even 30 seconds into the rower I started to feel dizzy. I slowed down and it went away. Went into the next thing. There it was again! The dizziness and a few black spots. I finished, caught my breath and then went on to the next. Barely 3 tries and I felt like I was going to pass out.
Amber Goppert ended the session, and sent me home for a loooonng nap.
Exercise, can tell you a lot about where you are in your health. For me, it was telling me that I was exhausted and dehydrated, but was too darn stubborn to listen to my body. So what did my body do? It acted out and made me stop! It was also reminding me that a "Go, go, go" lifestyle is NOT sustainable and that I need to slow my roll!
While regular exercise is one of the pillars of healthy living, it is an epigenetic factor that can harm or elevate your wellness story!
Exercise improves cardiovascular health, lowers blood pressure, helps control body weight, and protects against a variety of diseases. Just like a healthy diet, exercise can contribute to general good health and to a healthy immune system. It also contributes by promoting good circulation, which allows the cells and substances of the immune system to move through the body freely and do their job efficiently.
But if you do too much, push yourself beyond what is healthy for YOUR body, it can cause unnecessary stress that can lower your immune system. Or, like in my case, not allow me to push any more until I got some the rest! I know we are in the “busy” season, but slow down, listen to your body. Its REALLY smart and is telling you what it needs ALL TIME!
