shadow work

Shadow.

Shadow.

Yesterday at @modernmystic_shop I had the opportunity introduce a conversation about Shadow work.

Exploring your shadow supports us in feeling that sense of peace, wholeness, and spiritual alignment. It can lead to greater authenticity, creativity, and personal awakening. But what IS the Shadow?

The shadow is the disowned self. The things we feel shame around, the parts we don’t want to claim as being a true part of ourselves, and we repress.

If you are thinking about doing Shadow work, here are a few tips in starting the conversation at home.
1. Go in with with non judgement and compassion.
When “meeting” with your shadow you want to go in as a witness. This is an opportunity to ask “What do you have to teach me?” It’s not always easy to witness the role you play in your own life when it comes to certain situations or choices.

2. Ground.
Find a comfortable time and place that you can sit with without distraction, and set up sacred space. You may not like what you see or receive from your meeting with your shadow. Grounding can help you to stay the non judgmental witness so you can practice self acceptance.

3. Awareness is power.
Seeing the shadow requires a self-reflective mindset, which is the ability to reflect and observe our behaviors, thoughts, and feelings. Once we are aware, we can then choose to make the change we want to see in our lives. It’s your choice what to do with the information.

4. Write it down.
Writing down your experience gets it out of your body AND starts to diffuse the charge it has over you. Diffusing the change is an act of self care. So, take into consideration you may need to sit with some emotions.

If you would like to work with your shadows, a sound bath is a great way to go in for that meeting. The next sound bath is July 10th. Give me a heads up that that’s what you would like to work on, and I will instruct you. We can also do this in a 1 on 1 session. .
I look forward to seeing you soon!
