French Press to Stillness

French Press to Stillness

I am sometimes asked,
“How do you find time to meditate?” My answer, “I make time.” Literally... I put it in my google calendar, make an appointment with myself, and keep that appointment like I would any other appointment. DONE. And it feels really good to check it off my list. (I’m such a list person! 🙃) .

Meditation is not just for meditations sake. It’s an act of self care so I can show up FULLY in all areas of my life. (Or at least give it my best shot!) There is a quote that says, “If you can’t find time to meditate, you don’t have a life.” (Let me know if you know who said this. Thanks!) .

I didn’t believe it until I tried it for 5 days straight. GIRL! (ok... and BOYEEEEE) I started noticing more clarity, calm, and groundedness immediately! And that was about 5 years ago! I MAKE TIME EVERYDAY. Even if just for 5 minutes.

Pacific Yoga Fishtown and I talked about this when I was in Philly a couple of months back. I am naming it:

FRENCH PRESS to STILLNESS.

Check out my IG story to see how it goes. Essentially the idea is that most of us make coffee or tea in the morning. To help you get started with a mediation practice you look forward to, start by attaching it to something you already do and enjoy.

Let me know how it goes for you! Or! Share how you were able to make meditation a regular part of your day. 🥰

What we don’t own, owns us.

What we don’t own, owns us.

“ I checked myself at the door but wasn’t sure why I entered in the first place. Mindless conversation about things I don’t care anything about but we laugh, and I forced myself to laugh too.

I consume just to look like I am part of the crowd and raise my party cup in solidarity. Wait... why? What am I doing? Feeling disconnected I find my way back to the door to try myself on again. It’s really uncomfortable. But... at least it’s real.”

When we acknowledge the truth about ourselves, we can transmute the fear and other negative emotions that have held us captive. We can finally allow ourselves to STOP the things we have felt no longer serve us. We actually move forward and start creating the life we really want.

Last week I had the opportunity to share my story with Shawn Moore, M.S. host of the The Mindful Rebel podcast. We talked about entrepreneurship, how I got into sound healing, legacy, and of course, the fundraiser!

Let me know if you take a listen! I think you will get a better sense of why I do what I do. There is something else that drives me. And it’s NOT sound healing.

Head to shawnjmoore.com/podcast or your favorite place to listen (Apple Podcasts , anchor.fm , googleplaymusic) .

You made it through Monday!

Well! You made it through Monday!

How was it for you? Mine was a work from bed kind of a day. I go through waves of feeling most productive working in different spaces. The past week I have been working from my bed, the week before, I was set up on my back porch, and the week before that, my co working space at Plywood People! You may be surprised at what comes up for you when you take a moment to slow down and listen to your body. Try for one day putting your awareness on the spaces you feel more productive, lighter, happier… If you are still feeling the Monday blues, take a listen to the video above. This will be helpful in relieving a little stress, and hopefully shift your perspective on Mondays. You got this! (and YES! This is a snippet of one of the tracks that will be on the app! Are you excited yet?!?)
