M I N D F U L R E B E L

Last week I had the opportunity to share my story with Shawn Moore, M.S. host of the The Mindful Rebel podcast. We talked about entrepreneurship, how I got into sound healing, legacy, and of course, the fundraiser!

Let me know if you take a listen! I think you will get a better sense of why I do what I do. There is something else that drives me. And it’s NOT sound healing.

Head to shawnjmoore.com/podcast or your favorite place to listen (Apple Podcasts , anchor.fm , googleplaymusic) .

It’s not about Sound Healing

It’s not about Sound Healing...
it’s about empowerment.

Sound is the tool.
Sound is the vehicle.
Through different techniques
it creates the environment for
your body to go into its
natural healing functions.

When most people think about being healthy they typically think about the physical body. But they would be missing a few KEY players. It’s also about being healthy mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

In order to truly heal, you must first learn to feel.

Sound creates the environment for you to feel. From there, it is your responsibility to take what comes up and empower yourself to make the change you want to see in your life. It’s an opportunity to see where you have been giving your power away and EMPOWER yourself to take back your life.

San Francisco Sound Healing 101

SAN FRANCISCO !!!

You've been asking when I am teaching this class.. well, here it is! Are you ready for a full day intensive that will give you firm foundation for your sound healing practice?

Sound Healing 101 serves to give Sound Healers a foundation to this growing field of Sound Healing, as well as introduce Sound Healing to those who are curious about it.

Students will gain the foundation needed to add sound as a therapy in their established health and wellness businesses, start their own sound healing practice, use in their music recordings, or use sound healing for their own personal health and wellbeing. .

Why am I teaching this?
Sound Healing is on the rise. The media is talking about it. Hospitals are adopting new frequency technology for treatment. And we are starting to hear about it more and more within our communities.

With this new found buzz, we are seeing a wave of interest in new practitioners to the field. We are witnessing the growth of Sound Healing in classes, coaching sessions, and in music production. The danger, is that a lot of them are untrained and unaware of how sound affects the body and what they may be doing to their clients. .

This class will empower you to create a session that supports your clients on their path to healing. Here are a few reasons why we need you: • On average, there are 123 suicides per day. • Anxiety and Depression affect 40 million adults each year. • 100 million Americans are living with Chronic Pain. • 11.9 million Americans have Cancer • There are 14,000+ substance abuse facilities in the U.S.

With the complexities of health care demands. Sound Healing is a non-invasive healing method that compliments traditional medicine. Sound Healers play a role in setting the body up to go into its own natural healing. Check out more information and Sign Up with the link below.

Social Media Has Created a Whole New Industry

Social media has created a whole new industry where there are now therapist specializing in social media addiction and the depression, anxiety, and attempted suicides that come with it. And I’m NOT just talking about adults... I work with one of those amazing therapy centers. I am so thankful for the work that Paradigm San Francisco does to help our youth, and the value they see from having sound healing as part of their program once a week. This is real. For something that is suppose to bring us together, and be a source of information, how can we empower our youth when they are inundated by highlight reels? I’m not saying take away screen time... this is still a powerful tool! But how do we empower our youth on social media? I don’t know what it’s like to be a parent. But I can tell you that our kids need us. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be hired by these therapy centers to work with them...

What dialog are you having with your children around social media? Have you experienced a dialog around comparison, depression, anxiety, or sexuality from what they are seeing on these channels? Comment below.

(Thank you ahead time for anyone commenting on this sensitive topic.)

WELP… I’m feeling it!

WELP… I’m feeling it!

I don’t know what it is but when I feel like something has shifted within, I feel the need to change my hair.  Like, “THIS” is what I have to do to express the shift that has happened on the inside for it to fully be expressed.  A statement, an exclamation point, an “I have committed to” the showing up fully in the evolution and alignment of self. And this… was a BIG SHIFT.

The kind with resistance, the ugly cry, and girl friends having your back when you go head to head with yourself!

I started working with a coach with the intention to evolve my spiritual practice. The very first session opened up awareness on foundation (root), play (sacral), and inner dialog (solar plexus) around the Self Expression.

I will admit… I was offended! (the resistance!) But it was true! (the ugly cry!) The more I explored this (friends showed up) with my coach we discovered that I had a belief that I needed to look a certain way to be accessible, approachable, and be taken seriously in my work endeavors, in friendships, and in love. (Its partially true about some areas of my work.) Though I have dabbled and tested the waters in a few areas, I haven’t had the courage to show up in the fullest outward expression of myself.

Tomorrow, I am taking the first step.  Hair. (Not surprising! Haha!) My wardrobe will slowly evolve, and I am scoping out tattoo artists. The conversation on my feed will start to shift, and I will be adding a different type of sound bath experience for those wanting to go deeper into meditative experiences. (Stay tuned) And the biggest expression of all VOICE, will come more into play.

I share this because I strongly believe if Im not showing up fully, how can I ask you?  We may all be on different paths, but they all lead to the same place. Inner peace. We all deserve to live a life we love. And the first step is to look in the mirror. I’m nervous and feeling a lot of emotions around this, but excited to see it all come together. And most of all, feel fully expressed.

You can check out the interview here:

I will just leave this here for now... I am still processing and allowing myself to take it in.

Calm the mind already!

There are many forms of Sound Healing that can be used as a way to help release ourselves from our obsessive thinking.

When we sing to the songs on the radio, becoming ONE with Bae, or Brushin Your Should Off, we are in a sense, emulating those artists. However, laying down for a sound bath experience can be used as a tool to support in the letting go of the personas we pick up during our day, as well as the one we identify with... it helps you let go of thoughts, bring awareness back to Sound and truly find Stillness. .
A regular practice trains us to have the ability to let go. You can think of sound as the net that captures your thoughts into one place and the stillness diffuses its power over you and releases it. Going back to sound is an empowered action that supports us in the letting go of the things we obsess over. Like... if Kiki really does loves you. DUUUUUUDE! Come on! If you made sound to stillness a part of your everyday practice this THING with Kiki may not take as long to get over!

That goes for all of us. Having a Sound to Stillness Practice supports you in those times you get a blast of negative emotions like when you’re cut off in traffic, have a disagreement, go through a breakup, or someone writes your name wrong on your cup at Starbucks... it may take you 2 months to get over it rather than a year!

September is a special month. I am wrapping up my time facilitating in Philly and road tripping back to Atlanta tomorrow. Just in time to start a series of Sound Baths starting THIS Wednesday night.

These sound bath experiences can be used as a tool to conquer your obsessive mind chatter by training ourselves to let go and come back to a deeper, quieter place within.

From Sound to Stillness

Whenever I feel like I'm not quite sure what I need to do next OR am feeling overwhelmed, I find the peace and clarity I need when I take myself out of what is familiar.

I consider all of this pretty natural. It’s easy to fall into a routine when we are in a familiar space. We fall into a comfortable rhythm. It’s safe. The same words. The same thoughts. The same food. The same people. The same movement. When we do something over and over it becomes a habit and we begin to make unconscious actions. Those actions can sometimes lead to a feeling of “stuck” for me. Have you experienced that?

Taking myself out of my “everyday” disrupts those rhythms and patterns. It introduces me to a different conversation and awarenesses that supports me in finding clarity and focus in my next steps. Sometimes that’s through a road trip. Sometimes it’s by making the conscious decision to do something differently.

But, I didn't always have this level of self awareness. Sound Healing has helped me build this awareness. I use Sound as the vehicle to get me to Stillness.

It is within Stillness, we find awareness and clarity that we can then use to Empower ourselves to make the change we want to see in our lives, and there is so much peace that comes from it. The more you practice Stillness, the easier it is to get there.

I have so many opportunities for you to join me this month. Ive noticed that my facilitation has shifted. I’m starting to use my voice more and it feels like my drums have come alive! Your energy is asking for something different and I am answering the call. I can tell that many of you are starting to find your voice. I hear you.

Choose to do something you haven’t done before, or maybe just a little out of routine. Witness the mind and body align to find peace and clarity.

Insecurity.

My insecurity…

Insecurity is one of the major issues affecting relationships and more importantly, the relationship we have with ourselves. Feeling insecure can lead to anxiety, depression. Insecurity can prevent you from being open to new opportunities and going after your dreams.

One insecurity I find myself in constant conversation around is in finding a romantic partner who will accept me around my work in Sound Healing. Fully accepting my passion for helping people in this way, being excited for me in my BIG VISION, the need to be vulnerable and feel safe in sharing my experiences in feeling and seeing energy, and the need to retreat to nature to recharge… preferably with him.

Saying an affirmation is only a gateway to a mirror in which you look at yourself.  And I mean REALLY looking at yourself.  Becoming a witness to the belief systems in place and emotions around what is holding you back.

For me, saying “I am Secure” brought up a subconscious belief of my insecurity that I will not be loved or accepted by a romantic partner because the work I do is weird and so are my experiences. In asking myself more questions, I realized the experience that this belief is linked to, and that the feeling associated with it is of heart break, sadness, and feeling misunderstood.

What are ways you can empower yourself to feel more secure?

For me, its to date. It’s to share what I do unapologetically.
It's to show up and be visible! It’s to invite him in to an experience and see if he accepts. It’s to be me, unapologetically me, living in alignment of my truth even it makes someone else uncomfortable.  Living in alignment with your truth weeds out what you don’t want to make room for what you do want. But it starts with taking personal ownership and responsibility of the role you play.  Do this, a nd “I am Secure” will be come a way of life.

See you at a sound bath soon!
